Kuyt keen to commit to Liverpool.

There is still a buzz circulating around Anfield. Despite the club's inability to maintain their winning form into the new year - with the team instead starting to shed points - captain Steven Gerrard still harbours title hopes.

It is many of the current squad's first real shot at the Premier League crown with the club, and that is reason enough for key players to commit their long-term future to Liverpool.

Dirk Kuyt, a hard-working forward, is keen to extend his stay at the club, as his current deal expires in just 15 months' time.

"I am enormously happy here and I want to continue for as long as possible at Liverpool," he told Voetbal international.

John Smith, a representative of the Dutchman, confirmed that negotiations have already begun with the club's higher-ups.

Smith said: " Furthermore, we are in discussions with Liverpool about a contract extension for Dirk."

The club's fans will be hoping that the board will be swift to secure the future of Kuyt, as Dan Agger's future is still unclear, despite the Danish international requesting a new deal as far back as three months ago.

Dirk Kuyt signed for the Reds in 2006 from Eredivisie side Feyenoord.
